Content Returns to Ace Hotel This Weekend With Fresh Faces

For the last five years Content has provided thousands of viewers an immersive design experience, allowing makers to take over the rooms at the Ace with unabashed creativity. This year they’re shaking it up a bit.

From the outside, a casual observer may feel the event looks the same, with throngs of folks squishing in to see creative concoctions, rooms that delight and entertain, and a packed bar. But a notable shift going into the sixth year: instead of shoulder-tapping designers to be part of the event, this year the Content crew opened it up to the city, allowing designers to pitch ideas. The ideas poured in, with a judging panel carefully selecting the best of the bunch to ensure constant thrills for Saturday, with both some familiar names—a la designer Brady Lange and Fieldwork Flowers—alongside newbies like hair sculpture artist Joanne Petit-Frere and designer/performer Kayleigh Nelson (who stunned the crowd this year at Critical Mascara, winning the Faux Femme category).
See them all yourself on Saturday in the attend-or-you’ve-missed-it-forever event. The show historically reaches capacity, with long lines outside hoping to get in, so do yourself a favor and come early. And allot time to visit the pop up shop on site at The Cleaners for goods from the designers on sale.
