Ah, the mighty caftan: perhaps the only garment that balances the aesthetics of ancient Mesopotamia, cult leaders, and Mrs. Roper from Three’s Company. Now that’s diversity. The casual, one-piece summer wonder does it all—protects skin from UV rays, renders undergarments optional, and, when chosen well, looks effortlessly stylish.

Our city’s caftan inventory is currently at a billowy max. Here are some pieces we’re loving from local boutiques and online shops.

Moore Custom Goods Dreamer caftan with sheer paneling, $210, wearmoore.com; Barrow Florence tassel earring ($75) and ceramic Compass bracelet ($75), barrowpdx.com; 1960s polyester print caftan, $36, artifactpdx.com; Barrow Landline necklace worn as bracelet, $105, barrowpdx.com

Vintage jungle-print silk caftan with layered sleeves and feather tie back, $895, dressingvintage.com; Barrow Mini-Swift Eclipse earrings, $65, barrowpdx.com; custom Amelia velvet burnout caftan with tie belt, $174, helloamelia.com; Barrow Knot necklace ($85) and Twist necklace ($95), barrowpdx.com
