A Supergroup Fashion Show to Benefit the Children's Cancer Association

Fact: Supergroups induce joy. Temple of the Dog! The Lady Marmalade music video! The cast of Ocean's 8! And on November 24, when 20 of Portland’s most talented fashion designers band together for the Purple show as a benefit fundraiser for the Children’s Cancer Association (CCA)—a group that uses music and nature to bring fun to 35,000 children and teens in cancer treatment annually.

Produced by clothing designers and local fashion icons Kate Towers, Haunt’s Holly Stalder and Portland Garment Factory’s Britt Howard, the threesome corralled together their community and instructed the long list of familiar names to all make one garment out of CCA’s signature color. Their press release promises, “a dazzling sea of lavender tulle, parading violet ruffles, pops of indigo-colored street wear, and hand painted plum hued gowns.”
The three designers are all mothers and Stalder says they wanted to use their skills to give back to this org that does everything to bring joy to kids in a difficult time.
“As a small business owner and mom, I don’t have the resources to donate as much as I would like to charity and I think a lot of other designers probably feel the same,” she says. “This show will allow us to use our creative energy instead and do something really fun together while raising money for CCA.”
In addition to the familiar designer names—Adam Arnold, Michelle Lesniak, and Elizabeth Dye to name a few—guests can also visit the Shop Purple Store where designers from the show and all over town will be selling purple jewelry, clothing, artwork, and accessories with proceeds going towards the fundraising goal.
One more thing: To show the CCA some extra love they’re asking guests to wear purple. So start planning your Prince-inspired ensembles now.
