Beers Made By Walking is a program that invites local brewers to explore the great Northwest (primarily through walking and hiking) and take advantage of its many varying, inspirational landscapes during the creation of their beer.

BMBW, in collaboration with the Forest Park Conservancy, is hosting two upcoming hikes in Forest Park, Portland. Forest Park is full of luscious and useful summer vegetation, which can be harvested for use in beer, among other things.

The next hike—“Cascade Views”—will take place on Sunday, August 17 from 1-4 pm, and feature Breakside, Coalition, and Harvester brewing companies. The four-mile hike has a 1,400 feet elevation gain, which will hopefully (weather permitting) reward you with a beautiful view of the Cascade mountain peaks. Free tickets for this event will become available Friday, August 8. The last hike – “Wildwood North” – takes place from 1-4 p.m. with Laurelwood Brewing, along Forest Park’s Wildwood trail. Free tickets will be available on Friday, August 29th.
