Long-time farmers market celebrity Mark Doxtader just inked a lease for a new Tastebud restaurant at 7783 SW Capitol Highway in Multnomah Village. Projected opening: November 2014.

Inside a former antique shop, the new 1,500 square-foot Tastebud will hold 45 seats, a small, fully stocked bar, and an attached retail counter to sell Doxtader's legendary Montreal-style bagels and other baked goods. The vibe will be rustic-cozy, says Doxtader, and will center primarily on a gigantic 72-inch Mugnaini wood oven—the only piece of cooking equipment in the kitchen.

Doxtader is bringing back his glorious roasted chicken dinners and perfectly charred pizzas, both staples at his short-lived 3220 SE Milwaukie Ave location, which shuttered in January 2013. Also in the works: heaps of Oregon seafood, farm-fresh vegetables and salads, and a new breakfast program featuring baked eggs, French toast, and oatmeal, all wood-fired.

Tastebud’s Multnomah Village location will join a cadre of farmers market booths and a downtown bagel cart at Southwest 10th and Alder.

More details as they become available.
