The candlelit, barrel-lined Central Eastside urban wine bar Sauvage closed Saturday May 31, after just under two years of serving sophisticated small plates while shining a spotlight on the attached Fausse Piste Winery’s Rhône-inspired cuvées. Fans of Jesse Skiles' wines need not fear: the adjoining winery will continue bottling its natural wines537 SE Ash St. #102

Ben Bettinger will join Laurelhurst Market as executive chef after his upcoming departure from Vitaly Paley's Imperial. Laurelhurst’s current chef de cuisine, Shannon Preble, decided to step down in order to pursue other goals. It is unclear at present what changes are in store for the restaurant’s menu, but co-owner Ben Dyer assures fans of the Market that the kitchen will stay true to its beefy roots. 3155 E Burnside St

Coffee fans, take note: Case Study Coffee's Wes Russell and Christine Herman Russell are opening a third location on NE Alberta next to popular brunch spot the Tin Shed. The new coffee shop will boast a vintage German Probat roaster and plenty of space (including outdoor courtyard seating). 1422 NE Alberta

Little Big Burger Alberta opened May 28, just a month after its opening was announced. In what has become owner Micah Camden’s signature move, just as he showered Hawthorne in free donuts with the opening of Blue Star Hawthorne, so too did he welcome patrons to his new Alberta LBB location with free burgers. 2032 NE Alberta St.
