As Eat Beat first reported earlier this year, Tastebud, the wood-fired pizza and farmers market-fueled eatery from Mark Doxtader, will reopen at 7783 SW Capitol Highway in Multnomah Village, this spring. Doxtader is legendary amongst farmers market aficionados for his Montreal-style bagels, brassica-topped pizzas, and superlative roasted chicken dinners.  

Now, Doxtader tells Eat Beat that he hopes to open his “bigger, better Tastebud” (official name still TBD) by the end of March, 2015. Manning the gigantic, 72-inch Mugnaini wood oven will be celebrated Portland chef, Jason Barwikowski, who departed the Woodsman Tavern in August, 2013.

Barwikowski spent time in the old Tastebud kitchen at 3220 SE Milwaukie Ave, along with noted Portland chefs Tommy Habetz (Bunk), Greg Perrault (June), and Cathy Whims (Nostrana). “We are kind of like chef rehab,” jokes Doxtader.
