Dove Vivi (but this one's a vegan pie)

1. Slice into carnitas pizza at Dove Vivi
The cornmeal crust-loving non-traditionalists at Dove Vivi have nothing to lose by fusing taco toppings with pizza. We’re glad they took the risk. This week, their rotating special pie is sprinkled with crispy carnitas bits, corn, and cilantro, melted through with mozzarella and cotija cheese, then drizzled with bright salsa verde.
2. Scoop seasonal sorbetto at Pinolo Gelato
Portland’s outstanding gelato shop keeps surprising with fresh, simple, concentrated flavors, cantaloupe to Shiro plum. If “Italian plum” is in the house, grab it. It’s speckled with little bits of fruit skin and tastes like a revelation: more plum than plum itself.
3. Sip on Turmeric Chi Chi at Hat Yai
The ultimate thirst quencher at this southern Thai hotspot—whether you need relief from 90-degree heat or scorching chiles—is the Chi Chi: sweet, cool, and creamy, stained yellow with turmeric, and spiked with vodka.
4. Savor sashimi with “The Boxer” at Taylor Railworks
This playful sashimi dish layers three virgin slices of yellowtail with vibrant rounds of sweet pluot, salty pops of trout roe, and serrano chiles in a bath of ponzu sauce. It’s the best thing at the industrial east side spot right now.
