How has COVID-19 affected you personally and professionally?
Ashley Yorra: “Professionally, because of the stay-at-home order, HOA and Condo boards are seeing more neighbor disputes, which can
make my role running virtual board and annual meetings critical. Personally, like many working women, the increased childcare has been an unexpected and difficult challenge, and we all should begin analyzing ways to redistribute caregiving.”
Sarah Lappin: “I am trying to balance the complete flip flop of my days as I knew it pre COVID-19, while ensuring that my children are
busy and taken care of. I am also working with my clients through the challenges of having to be in the same physical space as their spouse, while they are dissolving their relationship.
What are some obstacles women face in law?
AY: “Unfortunately, discrimination continues – a judge referring to a woman as a ‘nice young lady’, for example. I say this from a privileged position, but everyone should continue to stand up for equal treatment. Practically, each person has their own set of special talents and should use that to their advantage.”
SL: “As a woman, I understand the challenges associated with having a family and a full-time career. I also understand how life changing having children is and often joke that it is literally the only experience I was completely not prepared for. Although, now I can add COVID-19
to that list.”
