What is your role and why is what you do personal to you?
My role is to listen to our customers, understand their challenges and bring forward solutions that will help solve their health care needs, including COVID-19 challenges. I have played many roles in health care: patient, advocate for my aging parents, and mother of three, including a special needs child. I’ve experienced firsthand how the health care system can feel like it’s actively working against you. I know how it feels, and I want to make it better for people and their families. This is especially important when we are helping our members to receive the best care during this national crisis.
How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected you personally and professionally?
There are shared experiences during this pandemic, but there’s also a wide range of how people are impacted. We’re working harder than ever to ensure our members receive health care based on their needs.
What is your approach to leadership?
Find your passion and follow it; you’ll be more likely to have a strong and original voice. Then, get out of your office to test your beliefs and assumptions – you’ll be surprised by what you learn and hear. Finally, be humble and kind: someone that people can talk to openly and honestly, who respects others and is a teammate you want to stand beside on both the good and bad days alike.
