What’s even more thrilling than seeing a small boutique survive it’s first fledgling year, is seeing one that kicked so much butt it needs to expand. Such is the case with (formerly) Alberta’s Backtalk boutique. This Saturday owners Katie Freedle and Elissa Hall celebrate the soft opening of their new beautiful space.

Just a year ago the women presented their eclectic blend of vintage and new designs to the Portland public (and winning themselves a public voted PFSA award for Best NE boutique), their grandest evolution yet, a complete re-design and launch at 3962 N. Mississippi Avenue.

The new space features an expanded vintage collection and debut designs from Courtshop Denim, REIF, Foxtail Jewelry, and Wintercheck Factory alongside Backtalk staples like PDX Black Lipstick Co., Soaprocks, and Julia Barbee fragrance. Adding to that, Backtalk welcomes Alexa Stark (also known as one of the founders of the Here Now project) as the store's new in-house designer.

Visit the new space this Saturday, March 16 from 4-7 to welcome the new neighborhood addition and see the unveiling. Beyond the carefully curated inventory, the music, and the free champagne flowing, the space will also feature an artistic portrait series from Portland fashion photographer Lavenda Memory, with the models all styled in Backtalk garments.

What: Soft opening for Backtalk's new space and art opening for Lavenda Memory's latest project
When: March 16, 2013 4:00-7:00pm
Where: 3962 N Mississippi Ave (Backtalk)
