This morning, Ralph Lauren unveilled Imperial as the wool supplier for the opening ceremony and Olympic Village gear RL is making for Team USA's upcoming excursion to Sochi.
The move comes on the heels of controversy over past RL Olympic products, manufactured abroad. Imperial's role as a supplier obviously fits in with a new "Made in America" branding strategy.
It's not the century-plus-old operation's first foray into fashion, though—the company has showcased its signature product in a collection by Portland designer Anna Cohen (shown at left).
As an added bonus, Ralph Lauren makes Imperial the focus of—yes—the first heart-stirring, dramatically scored video segment of the Olympic media cycle. The thrill of victory!
