A "Fatshion" Revolution

A new collective in town wants to bring awareness to indie fashions via a runway show for those who identify as "fat and fabulous."

The PDX Fat Fashion Collective wants you to know it’s not about fashion, it’s about Fatshion. Shawna Farmer (When in Doubt Wear Purple), Coco Madrid (House of Coco), and Leigh Rich. The trio says they are, “tired of basic, corporate, ‘plus size’ fashion. We are fat and fabulous. We think you’re hot, and we are here to show you a good time.”

With that agenda in mind, next Sunday the group brings us Summer Strut—a dedicated fat fashion show with the local community's best offerings in a specific stylescape for sizes XL-5X and beyond.

This multi-sensory fashion event includes eight independent designers (plus the opportunity to shop the looks), raffle prizes from Look/See Eyewear, Fat Fancy, Savvy Plus, and Curvy Chic Closet, two DJs (Beyondadoubt and Bruce La Bruiser) plus Portland's very own drag clown sweetheart, Carla Rossi, as Master of Ceremonies.
