Ogle gorgeous homes while gaining inspiration for your own castle and style with the Street of Dreams fashion show. I’ll be onsite to emcee, with fall looks from the likes of Nordstrom, Loft, Gap, and White House Black Market. Watch the show and stroll around the benefit for Clackamas Women’s Services. Retailors from Clackamas Town Center will be on hand offering guests treats, wine and live entertainment. Goody bags and a chance to win prizes top off this event.
Style in the Street is only one night within the month long NW Natural Street of Dreams event. Mark your calendars for August 12 and upgrade your entry ticket to a VIP all-access pass with the suggested donation of $10 for an all-access VIP pass to this event. All donation proceeds benefit our Home Builders Foundation who will be renovating Clackamas Women’s Services domestic violence shelter.

See hair fantasies in reality at Hair M|W Thursday night. Their team of stylists will create fantastic editorial runway looks on models (wearing designs from one of my favorite up and coming high end designers Danielle Grasseth). The stylists will also be on hand to give tips and tricks for how us mere mortals can recreate these looks in our everyday lives.
In First Thursday tradition there will be cocktails, snacks, a DJ and the first 50 people will receive a gift bag with gift certificates, luxury skin care & hair care products from Oribe Hair Care, Kerastase, Davines, and Morrocanoil.

TIE ONE ON

A collaborative party dedicated to doing each other’s hair: If that doesn’t take you back to some rocking junior high memories, I don’t know what will. On Thursday the trio of Caravan Pacific, Studio ERG and Betsy + Iya (plus friends) host a Modern Hair Tie Release Party, complete with sips, snacks, and onsite styling.
The simple, but stylish, gadgets are all made from a lightweight piece of brass or copper and fixed with a hair elastic on the inside. Prices for the hair ties range from $28 for a medium brass tie to $32 for a brass braid set. Get them at the part or at www.caravan-pacific.com.

MASSIF CENTRAL SCARVES RECEPTION

Stop into 811 shop Nationale for one of its last events before it closes up shop for a new location in the fall. Brooklyn-based Massif Central produce limited edition silk scarves by contemporary artists. Each square scarf is hand painted by an artist who wouldn’t traditionally be part of the fashion world creating pieces you can wear that are fantastic works of art with a limited production run of just 50 scarves per painting. Saturday will feature the opening reception though the scarves will be up through the 23 with displays from Portland native Keegan McHargue, as well as Joshua Abelow, Ellen Berkenblit, Ry Fyan, Chris Lux,and Jonas Wood.

Local photographers Hal Harrison and Ryan Loe debut their exhibit inspired by Helmet Newton and his famous erotically charged black and white photos of the 1960’s. Opening reception is Tuesday Aug 5, but the show will run through the month at White Space.

Renegade craft fair

San Francisco based Renegade Craft Fair has been luring Portland makers down to the Bay Area for years. The successful market focusing on talented small designers comes to Portland for this first time this weekend, launching its Portland Mini Market.

Hopping on with the already beloved Rejuvenation crew the market will take place this weekend at SE 6 Street between Salmon and Taylor. The lineup includes over 90 designers including gorgeous jewelry from Claire Green, handy journals from Ex Libris Anonymous, cat bowties from Business Catual (!), and clothing from Little Lark. Additionally guests can find some out of towners, community based workshops, and music at the two-day long fest.
