Cult Favorite Betsy & Iya's New Jewelry Line is Made for "You + Me"
Local jewelry maker Betsy Cross knows all about pairings. When she’s not designing new complimentary additions to her ever growing line of brass beauties, she’s running a quickly growing company with her other half, husband Will Cervarich.
When the two took a family trip to Peru last spring, Cross spent the time connecting with extended family, learning a bit about native Incan culture, and observing the indigenous craft processes of the Peruvian people she met. “The notion of yin and yang, or give and take, got me thinking of pieces that fit together,” she says. “The dynamics of different pairings fascinate me, and those dynamics also function as a metaphor for the way we work together, support one another, and fit together as people.”
From that notion, the crew at Betsy & Iya just released their latest collection, aptly titled, You + Me. The 13-piece collection features a family of earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets in related and complementary shapes, some with pieces that can be interlocked or disjoined. The collection is meant to be layered and stacked, or “shared with a friend or loved one.”
