Mod Man

In 2011, longtime local retailer Justin Machus opened a new store dedicated to a single idea: menswear eschewing the Portland retro-lumberjack look. “I was looking to provide variety Portland hadn’t seen,” he says of Machus, “a little more avant-garde, but wearable.” From contemporary tunics to the controversial drop-crotch pant, he’s doing just that. 542 E Burnside St, machusonline.com

This year menswear industry titan MR Magazine named Mario's one of the 10 most influential stores in North America, alongside big guns like Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman. 833 SW Broadway, marios.com
