Derby season has officially wrapped, but the time for hats isn’t going anywhere. Adding to our already impressive roster of local milliners—think Pinkham, John Helmer, and Bonnet—Portland transplant Brookes Boswell opens up shop this week on SE Morrison. With her hat-making studio in the back, customers can see the works in progress as Boswell meticulously hand-blocks and pins each piece to order.

In the front retail section, offerings for the neck down fit the same laid-back but ever-so-stylish vibe of the hat line. Diverse pieces ranging from ceramics to womenswear line the shelves of the retail portion and Boswell boasts a number of lines that are exclusive to the new boutique including: Audrey Brown, Costalots, Demetria Chappo, DUO NYC, Nikki Chasin, Paige Martin, Samantha Pleet swim, the Palatines, and Welcome Companions. 

Pop into the new space and check out the digs at the opening launch party this Friday, May 13. In addition to the in-store discounts and requisite drinks, guest designers from the stock list will be on hand to chat about their wares. Meet Jessica Taft Langdon, designer and founder of the Palatines, with her spring, LA-made collection of shoes, and Demetria Chappo, a Brooklyn-based ceramicist. From the local side, beloved lines Reif Haus and Better Late Than Never will round out the guest designers and good party vibes.
