Black Wagon Celebrates 10 Years

The Mississippi Avenue kiddie boutique founded in 2006 made it through the rough years of the recession and remains a go-to spot for baby shower gifts and unique gear for the whole brood. In honor of their anniversary, owner Sarah Shaoul is throwing a bash complete with Lagunitas beer, vodka-spiked shaved ice (sans alcohol available, too), slices from Mississippi Pizza, a photo booth, and many wonderful door prizes and raffle items from Black Wagon vendors and local businesses. Entrance is free, no RSVP necessary.

North Albina Gets New Bling as Dea Dia Unveils

It’s 10 percent off everything at Dea Dia’s grand opening tomorrow. Snack and sip while perusing jewelry made in-house but also gems and sparkles from other local makers like Natalie Joy. Textiles from Ilano and Aelfie, plus skincare by Harlow, make Dea Dia a genuine temptation in the Historic Mississippi District.

Open House at Portland Fashion Institute

There will be cake for those who arrive promptly for the PFI open house and sixth anniversary celebration. Grab a slice and sit in on a panel discussion tackling how to make it in PDX as a designer and then take in pattern making, screen printing, and machine knitting demonstrations. From noon–2 p.m. all fabrics will be 40 percent. Another reason to get there early? The first 25 attendees get gift bags and will be entered into a drawing for a new sewing machine.
