7 Wonders of Oregon

Travel Oregon releases a pride-swelling video campaign surveying some of the more mind-blowing destinations in our state.

Looking for a little boost in your sense of Oregonian pride? In the mood for a goose bump–inducing video of jaw-dropping Beaver State sights? Well, good old Wieden & Kennedy has struck again.

This week, Travel Oregon launched its brand-new, $3 million marketing campaign of broadcast and cinema spots: “The 7 Wonders of Oregon.” Over 60 seconds, an anthem video proclaims, “We see your wonders, world—and raise you seven of our own,” then plunges into a stunning survey of the Oregon Coast, Mount Hood, the Columbia River Gorge, Crater Lake, the Painted Hills, the Wallowas, and Smith Rock. Seven individual 30-second videos delve deeper into each of those jaw-dropping destinations, each featuring real-live Oregonians.

The videos are a homegrown effort, directed by Portlanders Christian Sorenson Hansen and photographer Chantal Anderson, and with music by Bryan John Appleby Eric D. Johnson of local band The Fruit Bats. They were shot over the course of 14 straight days by a rag-tag team of 15 people driving more than 3,000 miles across Oregon—often sleeping in tents.

“This is some of the strongest work for Travel Oregon in our 25-year history of working together,” said Dan Wieden, chairman of Wieden & Kennedy. “What I really like about the creative, aside from how beautiful Oregon looks, is it gives people a checklist of things to see and do.”

What can we say? Get out in it! And remember: "She flies with her own wings."
