Will Portland’s food queen Naomi Pomeroy, the beauty behind the Beast, take down Philly’s famed Latin fusion chef Jose Garces on Iron Chef America? Find out on Sunday, Sept 12. The show airs at 9 p.m. on the Food Network (in true FN style, it should be in repeat until the world is a sea of ash).

Garces, a knighted Iron Chef, has already scored a few TKOs, including a win over Food Network pretty-boy regular Bobby Flay in a 2008 “melon battle.” No guessing what the secret ingredient will be this time around. But if it involves pork, Garces could be in trouble. Never count Pomeroy out. After her first venture Ripe smoldered in ashes, she reinvented herself as one of American’s rising female chefs at Beast.

Oprah Magazine knocked in May. Next up is Marie Claire. And now word has leaked that Pomeroy is in the running for a TV show on the Discovery Channel.

Win or lose, Pomeroy will duplicate the five-course Iron Chef at Beast, Sept. 15-18; $175 per person, with wines. Reserve at beastpdx.com
