Produce Row's Rebooted Pub Menu

We check in on the Central Eastside Industrial district's popular watering hole as it rolls out new snack boards, sandwiches, and elevated classics from chef Derek Hanson.

Produce Row is no stranger to reinvention. The once-divey bar opened on SE Oak Street in 1974 to cater to the riverside warehouse district's workingman crowd, and got a 21st-century makeover (and killer patio) when Alan Davis reimagined the restaurant in 2010.

Now, as Davis's new project—the buzzy Multnomah Whiskey Library—draws crowds across the river, the executive chef of both hotspots is bringing new energy to the eastside's early urban pioneer with an expanded menu launching this week.

Derek Hanson's new menu replaces nachos and slider-sized sandwiches with beefed-up burgers, mix-and-match snack boards (loaded with choices like fried chicken, delicata squash salads, french onion soup, bangers and mash, and beer-battered fries), and satisfying sandwiches alongside plenty of vegetarian options—stunning hummus and vegetable platters, chickpea fritter sandwiches with preserved lemon and pickled fennel, and a smoked mushroom dish with celery root puree and a poached egg. Happy hour brings breaks on snack boards (3 picks for $12) and discounted beet and kale salads, Caesars, and beef or black bean burgers from 3-6 pm and 10 pm-close.
