It’s Feast Week!

Thu–Sun, Sept 14–17, all around town
Most events at Portland’s sixth annual mega food fest are sold out, but there are still a few tickets available to things like the Grand Tasting and a “fun-sized” Because Breakfast. Even if you miss the main event, the whole town will be celebrating with special dishes, menus, and deals. Even New Seasons is in on the game, with special one-off beers from Hopworks, mocha milkshake bars from Alma, and Tillamook cheddar cheese sausage from Olympia Provisions. Hunt for tickets here.

David Thompson at Pok Pok

Holy crap. Pok Pok hosts the legendary David Thompson, whose Bangkok restaurant, Nahm, has inspired Thai restaurants all around the world. Better jump on this one quick if you want a taste of Thompson’s cooking without flying to Thailand. Tickets here.

Grand Aioli at Castagna

Back for its second year, Castagna’s “Grand Aioli” celebrates the Provençal summertime feast…basically a massive, high-end crudité board with rosé. Expect summer vegetables, albacore, shrimp, crusty bread, and buckets of aioli. Call 503-231-9959 for reservations.

Marshall’s Haute Sauce Class at Providore Market

6:30–8:30 p.m. Wed, Sept 27, Providore Market, $35
Sarah Marshall, founder of Marshall’s Haute Sauce, celebrates the release of her canning/preserving/hot sauce book, Preservation Pantry, at Providore Market. Marshall will sign copies, demonstrate two hopefully scorching recipes, and give away jars of seasonal vegetable preserves. Tickets here.

OJMCHE Fundraising Dinner at Aviv

5–10 p.m. Thu, Sept 28, Aviv, $45
The plant-based Israeli restaurant from former Gonzo food cart man Tal Caspi serves up a multi-course Mideast feast centered around a fresh crop of Hatch green chiles. Funds go to the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education. Tickets here.
