McMenamins - Established 1983
In 1983, two brothers were in search of the perfect place to linger over good beer and listen to music with friends.
They were enchanted by European cafés where big, burly beers were sold and families gathered, so they created an American version infused with Grateful Dead: the Barley Mill Pub. Fast forward 40 years, and those two brothers – and their kids – are still at the helm of what became a whirligig of fun spanning pubs, breweries, distilleries, wineries, historic hotels, theaters, and more.
