Oregon Humane Society - Established 1868

With campuses in Portland and Salem, services include pet adoption, humane law enforcement, training and behavior, disaster response, technical animal rescue, humane education, and veterinary care for shelter animals and owned pets.

OHS’ Community Veterinary Hospital is accepting new patients.
As one of the most respected animal welfare organizations in the country, OHS finds homes for more than 10,000 pets each year and provides a critical safety net to other shelters in our region through the Second Chance pet transport program.

In 2022, OHS completed a historic expansion project at the Portland campus. Two new buildings house the Community Veterinary Hospital, Animal Crimes Forensic Center, and Behavior and Rescue Center. Since opening in October 2022, the award-winning Community Veterinary Hospital has had more than 12,000 patient visits and distributed more than $400,000 in subsidized veterinary care to pet owners in need.
OHS is not affiliated with other humane societies or national organizations and relies on private philanthropy and grants to fund this lifesaving work.
