Oso Market closes its doors
The much-loved Grand Ave wine shop and brunch spot will have its last day of service September 2. Over the course of three years, the specialty market and wine/beer/cider shop wore a few different hats, including a long-running “adventure brunch” that traveled the world for inspiration.
An Indian food mainstay, Bombay Cricket Club, says goodbye
One of Portland’s most established Indian eateries (Portland Monthly’s Best Indian Restaurant 2004!) will shutter on August 31, according to a very brief note on Facebook. Bombay turned 21 this year, maintaining its reputation (and long lines) through several food revolutions—including the rise of Bollywood Theater.
Quin Candy vacates its east side location
The candy magic-workers at Quin have turned out the lights at their second location off of SE 28th Avenue near Burnside (the shoebox-sized store inside Union Way remains open).
Koi Fusion relocates to the South Waterfront
After closing its brick-and-mortar on SE Division (Eb & Bean will take its place), the Korean-Mexican fusion food truck fleet will head to 1831 SW River Dr, where it will join four other carts with a new concept called Cart Lab. Eater PDX reports that Cart Lab will have “a throwback, '90s sports vibe,” a full bar with 20 taps, a large dining room-cum-sports bar, and a kid-friendly play area.
The Wild Hunt migrates to Wolves & People Brewery
One of our favorite food carts is heading to Newberg. According to the Wild Hunt’s website, they will depart their parking spot at Teutonic’s Urban Winery (read about the winning combination of Nordic food and Alsatian wine here) for Wolves & People Farmhouse Brewery, a new brewery from beer expert/PoMo contributor Christian DeBenedetti. The Wild Hunt will reopen September 9 with a “small, cheese-focused menu.”
