To nobody’s surprise, Portland dominated the semifinalist nominations for the Northwest region yet again, earning 17 nods against Seattle’s 15 on Thursday, February 15. Newberg's Painted Lady Restaurant got the sole non-Portland nom, bringing Oregon's overall nods to 18.

There are plenty of repeats, like Gabriel Rucker for Outstanding Chef, Ken Forkish for Outstanding Baker, and Kristen Murray for Outstanding Pastry Chef. But also new ones: well-deserved Best Chef Northwest nods for Han Oak’s Peter Cho, Sarah Minnick from Lovely’s Fifty-Fifty, and Narumol (Nong) Poonsukwattana from Nong’s Khao Man Gai. Last year, Ox’s Greg and Gabrielle Denton earned top brass. Who will earn the highest achievement for the industry this year? Check back on March 14, when finalists are announced ahead of the May 7 award ceremony.
