Pok Pok Opens a Fourth PDX location in NW Portland

At long last, Pok Pok’s Andy Ricker has brought his addictive fish sauce wings to Northwest Portland for all the hungry denizens too afraid to cross the river. Pok Pok NW lives inside the former Bent Brick space at 1639 NW Marshall St., accepts reservations, and a lineup of exclusive appetizers like Sai Ua sausage (in collaboration with Olympia Provisions) and Miang Kham betel leaf wraps with toasted coconut and shrimp floss. 

Roe Has a New Home

The modernist seafood spot from Trent Pierce, which announced its intention to move from its longtime perch at 3113 SE Division Street last August, finally has a spot picked out. According to a press release, Roe will reopen inside the Morgan Building downtown at 720 SW Washington St. No word yet on a projected date. 

Fifty Licks Opens on April 28

As Eat Beat first reported in June 2016, the mobile ice cream truck-turned Division Street flavor-maker is expanding to 2742 E Burnside, right across the street from the Laurelhurst Theater. After a long winter of permitting issues, it’ll scoop its first banana-rum-coconut milk cone on April 28, just in time for the warm weather (fingers crossed). 

Big’s Chicken Opens in North Tabor

Ben Dyer, Jason Owens, David Kreifels, and Ben Bettinger, the four masterminds behind Laurelhurst Market (and many other projects over the years) have fired up the smokers at their Alabama-style chicken joint at 5663 NE Glisan St. The cult-worthy signature dish is smoked, grilled, and slathered in “white gold” sauce. There’s also plenty of fried chicken to compete with the rising tide.

Jackrabbit Launches Brunch

Just weeks after opening his first Portland-based restaurant, Chris Cosentino is diving into brunch. The menu is super meat-heavy and gluttonous, as one might expect from Cosentino, with pork chop flapjacks in hot sauce butter, potato waffles with smoked salmon and roe, and a roving, table-side Bloody Mary cart, with assorted spices and seasonal pickles. Get your fill on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
